>>>>Gulfport Gone
That was the front page headline in the June 18th issue of "The Hawk Eye", the areas local newspaper.
On June 17th, 2008 the mighty Mississippi River that was flooding areas all and up and down the river breached a levee and buried the entire village of Gulfport, Illinois under 10 feet of water and tons of mud. Everything in the village has been totally destroyed. There was so much water that it flooded everything from the banks of the river to at least 4 miles inland. Thousands of acres of farm land and homes were under up to 10 feet of flood waters. Two miles of US Highway 34 connecting Illinois to Iowa was. Needless to say other than personal papers they both, as well as everyone else in the village lost all that they had. Nobody had time nor a place to move out their belongings to before the flood hit.
After speaking to my sisters whom I am in constant contact with have been told that due to the massive amount of water in the area it will probably be many months before under water and had to be closed.
My two sisters were residents of this town and my younger sister was occupying the home that I owned therethey we be able to return and try to rebuild their lives. Many residents have decided that they will not return, however some resident including my sisters are life long residents of the village and plan to return when it becomes possible to do so.
The entire area has been declared a state and federal disaster area making it possible for home owners to get Federal Disaster loans. Even though I don't live there I am qualified for the loan as well due to the fact that I owned a home in Gulfport. Having the loan available to use is great, but the problem with this is that regardless of how low the interest on the loan may be it is money that will have to be repaid. Also my sisters and I are in our 50's and 60's with many residents even older than us. Who at this age wants to be burdened with trying to make ends meet, but also having to find the money to repay a loan from the government.
What I plan to do after we are allowed to return is to clean up any debris on the property which there will a lot of is purchase a trailer to put on the property for my sister to live in so that if this situation should ever arise again just hook up and pull it out to a safe place.
Since I don't want to be burdened with having to repay a loan I sat down and put on my thinking cap and said to myself "Bob what do you have that is of value to others in mail order need". Can you make something available to the mail order industry at a price that is above and beyond being an unbelievable bargain. After thinking long and hard I thought what are two of the most important things besides postage stamps that are needed by everyone in mail order, the two things are advertising and mailing lists.
I have been in the mail order business for quite some time and have built up a pretty decent sized in house mailing list. My personal list is in fact well over 20,000 names. I keep my list CASS certified and Zip+4 and it is processed quarterly on the USPS NCOA data base that will provide a current address of anyone on my list that has moved and given them their new address. Even with doing all this it is impossible to make any list 100% deliverable. Reasons for this are simple people move constantly and flood I really need to earn some big money and do it all in don't always give the post office their new address. There are other reasons for this to but the major one is how fast people move. I once received an order from a customer and sent an acknowledgement to them and received the letter back marked moved left no forwarding address.
After doing the research I found that the average price to rent a list of 10,000 names averages between $600 and $750. Five thousand names will cost you between $250 and $400.
Since I have been put into a bad situation due to the the next 3 or 4 months. Because of this I am willing to offer my in house list for rent for a limited time at an unbelievable bargain price.
You can rent my entire list of over 20,000 names for one time use for an incredible price of only $400. My sacrifice is your gain. The entire list is only available on a CD or sent to you via E-mail. To print this list on labels for rent would be very time consuming and not very cost effective considering the low price I am willing to rent this list for. To print a list of this size on plain paper or labels would take over 500 pages. The cost of labels alone would be over $100. I am not set up to with the equipment needed to print this large a number of pages, but I can easily do the CD or the E-mail. Anyone renting the entire list will receive a free bonus as my list is actually over 23,000 names. That is a freebie of over 3,000 names that could be rented for at least $150.
Don't need that many names? Okay, I will also rent 5,000 names on peel and stick labels for $250. As you can see renting my entire list is a bigger bargain even if you canŐt use them all at once. Five thousands names on peel and stick labels is the only amount I will rent separate from the entire list.
Remember I am only going to rent my in house list for a limited time. Once I have the amount of money that I will need to purchase the trailer that I will be putting on the property for my sister I will discontinue renting the list. Also I will stop renting the list when a certain number of rentals have been made so that the people on my list do not get swamped with offers. This also improves your chances of having some of them take you up on your offers because they arenŐt being overwelmed with offers.
When renting the list please specify how you want to receive the list either on a CD or via E-mail. Be sure if you want to receive the list by E-mail that you provide us with a valid E-mail address. We will also provide you with a certificate that shows that the list has been CASS certified to meet Postal requirements.
To order our list send $400 to: Grimes Marketing, ATTN Disaster Fund, PO Box 25, Westerville, OH 43086.
